MOVIE #1,131 • 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 • 08.30.23 I guess this is considered a lesser film noir/Anthony Mann film, but I really enjoyed it. The seemingly paint-by-numbers police procedural plot is actually well-layered and it’s both visually terrific and well-paced at an economical 83 minutes. The car chase shot on location through a desolate/old NYC is worth the watch alone. |

Side Street is a 1949 American film noir/police procedural starring Farley Granger and Cathy O'Donnell. Directed by Anthony Mann, the picture was filmed on location throughout New York City and culminated in one of the first modern car chases.[citation needed] Part of the story is set in the vicinity of the long-demolished Third Avenue El, a favorite location of the films made in the city during that era. It was released on December 14, 1949.
