🎙️ EPISODE 290: 08.03.2020 The second of Chris Guest's trio of classic mockumentaries, Best in Show builds off the template from Waiting for Guffman, sharpening the edges and cleaning up the flow. Less of an ensemble piece than it is the collection of these odd couples and their dogs, the magic occurs in these 1:1 interactions (O'Hara v Levy, Posey v Hitchcock, etc etc). Whereas Guffman, a small-scale production about a small town, felt small; Best in Show comes across bigger and more complete with a much broader array of character tropes (read: personality types) to showcase (read: exaggerate and exploit).
