🎙️ EPISODE 536: 08.19.22

This is a much more polished version of whatever The Hottest August was trying to do. It turns out putting a mic in front of Cornell West and Angela Davis, among other luminaries, makes for a more compelling film/dialogue than a bunch of Staten Islanders. But sprinkling in the dumb conservative interviews, what was the point? 98% of the film: Here are experts echoing the filmmaker's intents (which I agree with wholeheartedly!) as well as people in all walks of life given plenty of airtime to agree with said experts, but also here's a 10-second sound-byte of some inbred lunatics bitching about immigration while trying hard not to sound racist. There's also a bunch of Plato quotes sprinkled onscreen which we're supposed to agree or disagree with (not sure). I'm too old and cynical to approach this type of media with anything but weary angst at this point. Sorry.
