🎙️ EPISODE 680: 04.04.23

I think this bit off more than it could chew, but I appreciate its overt commitment to being weird and lyrical, especially given the self-imposed constraints of the supernatural premise. It’s not that I really care, necessarily, that it’s vague with explanations — that might be a plus even — but the workers (and their plight) who end up possessing the bodies of the pack of equally disenfranchised (for different reasons) ladies are given, what? 10 minutes of screen-time? Obviously, the bigger point seems to be about these women and therein lies the fact that several BIG socio-political ideas are being slammed together at, frankly, the disservice of one another. And I get that it’s ALL related, as these things often are, but I wound up feeling even more disconnected to this world than I did before. Maybe this is my ignorance speaking. What are we to do with these worlds we don't, couldn't possibly know. I don’t have the answer to that. Still, though, it’s meditative and sad and lovely to look at. A striking if not totally successful first feature.
