MOVIE #1,186 • 🍿🍿🍿 • 10.10.23 50 MOVIES IN 32 DAYS! Directly from my notes: She has the two straight guys wrestle each other in their underpants naturally and she masturbates to it topless, sorta, this goes on for such a long time like 5 min until one of them kills the other. Then she starts fucking the other guy when one of the gay dudes gets hypnotized by the other gay dude sees them in a vision and then the two dudes get it on and then it cuts to the lesbians getting it on and the head lady killing the dude she was gonna bone and then her brother finally unties the loose knot he was tied up with which seemed so easy to untie and then she kills one of the two girls… |
I've been curious about David DeCoteau for awhile, a comically prolific Corman acoylte who has been churning out cheap, often homoerotic shlock at a damn near incomprehensible rate since the mid 80s (this film is one of seven — 7! — features he crafted in 2009 alone!!)...
The Pit and the Pendulum, apparently, has almost nothing in common with the Edgar Allan Poe story it’s based on despite being billed on screen as “Edgar Allan Poe's The Pit and the Pendulum.” It’s about the daughter of a deranged scientist who picks up the mantle of his work by recruiting a gaggle of hot coeds to do hypnosis experiments on in order to eliminate pain and fear from the human experience. Well, none of it works and she ends up killing most of them, as she attempts to explain as a very bad CGI ax swings in the foreground…
Look at this blood splatter FX lol...
This is extremely bad, which goes without saying. But is this good bad? That's the question. There are some moments here and there where it feels like it might be hitting those notes. But they're far too fleeting. It's mostly bad bad. And really boring.
FUN FACT: The Room's own Greg Sestero shows up in the final postscript scene playing the boyfriend of one of the dead girls who is lured into the house by the two gay guys who, it's implied, have taken over the experiments even though they spent the entire film as the quasi-protagonists working to squash them?? Don't worry about it.
