She passes a stray dog by the train tracks and meets up with a loser guy. They smoke weed with some drunk deadbeats. Later, the same dog eats the guy’s drug stash while he tries to get it on with her… so he kicks it to death. When the girl returns home and starts to catch a beating from her mom, she starts barking at her. There’s definitely something lost here in the move from film to lower-grade DV, but Arnold still brings an unflinching rawness to her presentation of fucked up everyday people.
