Taylor’s first two films were both so good (I liked Zizek! better) it makes me want to revisit her third film which I gave a really blah critique of. I think I would probably like her 2018 doc better if I watched it again. In this, she interviews modern philosophers one-by-one and basically lets them go off, queen. For Cornell West’s segment, it definitely felt like she kidnapped him or he only agreed to this if she would drive him somewhere. There’s also an interesting element — at least in Avital Ronell’s portion — where the idea of this as a feature film is explored, but that thread isn’t really developed. Zizek shows up again. At a garbage dump lol. And he steals the show as expected.
