MOVIE #1,853 •🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿• 07.26.24 🎆ANGER D.F.🎆 Anger's Magnum Opus. Definitely one of the most famous and best experimental films ever made. It's a movie that is played in every single intro to the genre class worldwide for good reason. Even if you find it's subject matter and symbolism silly or even stupid, there's much to behold: whether it's simply the striking magnitude of the content (experimental shorts can be cinematic and BIG) or the delicate way Anger plays with the form and editing (the seamless insertion of stock footage and progressive early electronic score, for example), Lucifer Rising screams for your attention. It's no wonder he essentially hung up the cleats after this effort. He said and did all he ever had or wanted to in these thirty minutes. It's genuinely thrilling and fascinating 50+ years later. Its history/backstory is almost equally interesting. |
