MOVIE #1,071 • 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 • 07.20.23 Starting in 2020, I decided to watch & review the entire Nicolas Cage filmography in alphabetical order. This is 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔜𝔢𝔞𝔯 𝔬𝔣 ℭ𝔞𝔤𝔢 – Chapter 45. [Ed. Note: This CAGE review is one of a few that was not done in the patented 'video recap' style. I apologize for the inconsistency and will strive to never let this happen again.] Wanted to love this one more — the bad CGI intro from the vantage point of the life of a single bullet that ends up killing a kid gave me false promise that this might be fun in an insane way — but then 20 minutes in there’s a “doing cocaine” scene set to Eric Clapton’s “Cocaine,” which is like a Top 10 Worst Song for me. Just realized this was the writer-director of the legendary S1m0ne’s follow-up effort.

What a weird career this guy (Andrew Niccol) has had. Anyway, 00s and 10s Cage movies are always a challenge and I was probably too psyched that this had an RT score north of 60%. Because it doesn’t hold up (and maybe never was good to begin with). I never thought I’d see the day when I’d think, “you know what, this thing needs more Leto.” But this thing needs more Leto? …


This was pretty good though lol...
