🎙️ EPISODE 39: 07.26.2016 I would go onto watch and review the whole filmography of the modern master Yorgos Lanthimos, one of my absolute favorite directors working right now. But this one was the entry point and I've since bumped it into STONE COLD CLASSIC territory (see Episode #263). Another full and complete rewatch/review and ranking of his films is certainly in order at some point — Ed. Note: In early 2024, I finally did a full Director Focus/Ranking on Yorgos Lanthimos and had originally planned to rewatch (and properly review) all his previous work to add to these podcast-only reviews, but I didn't have time. Maybe one day.

His movies are a portal to a different world. A world where everything single thing a human can do and think is just slightly off from how it works in reality. We see in the Lanthimos oeuvre a boundless imagination at play, distorting norms not to shock us, but to make us to consider what they ever meant in the first place.
