This, for what it's worth, embodies several elements which I personally hold near and dear to my heart: a sense that the unknown can be explored and better understood through randomness and chance operations, mutant celebrity worship culture (both in terms of its vapidness and its extremity), and, most plainly, the immediacy of experiencing death, especially shocking accidental death. At eleven minutes, this is the first true "short film" I've reviewed for this site. And that's fine; that's just keep with the "bad boy of film review" persona I've expertly cultivated here over the years. So, what does happen when you got to document a bunch of UFO-obsessed lunatics who are forced to cancel their event due to fog and then said fog is responsible for killing one of the greatest athletes who's ever lived? The results will have you squealing, "only in America, baby!" and that's about the only thing I know, for sure. |
