🎙️ EPISODE 636: 01.17.23 An "adult animation" entry on topic enough (in theory, though not so much in practice, I'm a "cryptozoological guy") to get on my radar. The animation is quaint and lo-fi which adds to the homespun charm here. I liked the wacky story and it features a topnotch voice cast (Lake Bell, Zoe Kazan, Michael Cera and the legend Grace Zabriskie among others). Sure, it's weird seeing cartoon sex scenes not quite played for laughs at the very beginning of a movie, but that also helps set the tone. This insane shit is serious business. Thankfully (or maybe not?) a January 6th subplot (lol) never quite takes off. Everything gels to the point of acceptance, and — in moments — some place beyond that. I'm still waiting for a truly breakthrough moment when it comes to A.A. (or anime), but this is a enjoyable watch.
