🍿🍿🍿🍿 stream / download | 🎙️ EPISODE 675: 03.29.23 Essentially a riff on Dirty Work: two friends form a "company" that breaks up with people for unhappy partners who can't do it themselves. It's not a horrible wacky premise, but — unlike the 1998 Norm MacDonald vehicle — they forgot that they don't have to be sincere. Many of these New Zealander's (it was written and directed by the two leads Madeleine Sami and Jackie van Beek, who clearly have some comedic chops) jokes weren't connecting with me to begin with. Add on the juxtaposition of their insane behavior with forced heartfelt moments and it starts to get messy fast. They're trying to create a 'vibe' but I don't think it works. |
