🎙️ EPISODE 682: 04.05.23

Usually when I reach into the pocket of ~1950s era cinema, it's not strikingly bad. There's no point in seeking out the slop from that era when the slop trough of today is so overflowing. There's usually some reason, some filmmaker or some actor. So this is a rarity for you asses. TV Guide wrote: "Billy Wilder's talentless brother put together this fourth-rate Abominable Snowman film (the first and the worst)." Ouch, but also, yup, that seems fair. It's 71 minutes of boredom that feels like 71 hours. Only notable for the incredibly vapid fact that it's perhaps the first movie featuring a yeti (portrayed here by the 7'7" Lock Martin), not that they ever fully show this monster, as the costume looks like a store-bought gorilla suit tailored to fit the giant actor. I curse my former self for adding this to the watchlist for some unknown reason. This is the extremely cursed, totally inscrutable final dialogue...
