I tip my cap. This is a return to the quiet, static and insular pain of her earlier work, after the more sprawling The Intruder. Like with most of her work, what's left out is just as important as what we see. The present tension is undeniable, but the audience is forced to reckon with (perhaps) never truly understanding the heart of its cause. And it was nice to see old Denis standbys Alexas Descas and Grégoire Colin in lead roles once again.

It tells the story of a father-daughter relationship complicated by the arrival of an attractive young man. The film had its world premiere out of competition at the 65th Venice International Film Festival. It was released in France on 18 February 2009, and in Germany on 5 March 2009. It was released on August 29, 2008.
