The Holdovers

MOVIE #1,341 • 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 • 02.01.24
I am extremely pleased to announce that Alexander Payne is back, folks. The Holdovers is his best felt in years and easily a Top 3 effort (not to mention a lowkey future Christmas movie classic). Only 10/10 Stone Cold Classics Sideways and Nebraska are better in my book. This hits all the excellent notes one would expect from a great Payne film and has the added bonus of pure VIBES. You live and breathe the snowy New England setting (lovingly shot on film) and that alone is worth a lot. But the story and performances are every bit the equal. I know this isn’t a very compelling or well-written review. It's an A.I.-ass review, honestly. I just liked the movie a ton and it made me feel good. Sometimes there's no need to belabor the point and you know when you see it.
