MOVIE #1,340 • 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 • 02.01.24 I saw this a while ago and it’s not fresh in my mind. I definitely think it’s an excellent counterpoint (or palate cleanser) to the slog of Barbie, though. (Sorry, I just finished writing that review and it took a lot out of me lol.) Here is art that is fully uncompromised: both in the subject matter (naturally) and the delivery. Todd Haynes has crafted a thorough, loving portrait of what’s perhaps the greatest American rock band of all-time (they are among my Top 5 personal favorites, easily). It perhaps wasn’t quite as experimental as I was anticipating: it’s still a chronological, talking heads driven affair. But it’s clearly the definitive document on The Velvet Underground. 9/10 |
