MOVIE #1,377 • 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 • 02.15.24 This is a fun oddity. At the apex of Twin Peaks hysteria, Lynch and the gang shot a series of four commercials for a Japanese brand of canned coffee (called Georgia Coffee - watch here). They were included as DVD extras in one of the TP releases with the intro: “These TV spots aired only in Japan and usage as a special feature in this release is approved by Coca-Cola (Japan).” I normally scoff at including advertisement work on this website but I’ll make an exception here. The four spots form a serialized story wherein a man (Japanese actor Taka Higuchi) looks to Agent Cooper to help him find his missing wife. In the ensuing three-minutes worth of material, there are plenty of callbacks to Twin Peaks motifs, all set to that classic Badalamenti score. And while the pace and fast cuts feel new, this is a must watch for any TP fan out there. |
