Instead, it's attributed to the “New York Cinetracts Collective,” a group of young aspiring filmmakers who set out to capture protests against the Vietnam War, though it certainly has Marty's fingerprints all over it. The movie focuses on two events: the violent Hard Hat Riot in NYC in response to the escalation of the conflict, and a peaceful event in DC in wake of the Kent State shooting. Those images in and of themselves are a raw cinéma vérité document, and the film concludes with a discussion featuring Scorsese, alongside Who's That Knocking at My Door stars Harvey Keitel and Verna Bloom, among others. This postscript is interesting, especially seeing young Marty on camera, but it’s an odd landing spot after the striking imagery that preceded it.
