MOVIE #1,563 • 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 • 04.23.24 I think you get the point (the THEMES, if you will — plastic surgery, what’s the DEAL with that?) about ten seconds into this one, so when it actually plays out for close to 100 minutes it's kind of a slog. You'll find yourself waiting or praying for a twist that never comes. Thankfully, there are enough moments of unintentional comedy that make it worth the while (see below). And the last twenty minutes or so go completely off the rails in the most delightful fashion. This is really just about an extremely mentally unstable person (two actually, as it turns out) but I think it wants to be some high-minded romance drama? Director Kim Ki-duk seems like an interesting guy who had an incredibly prolific career so while I wouldn’t say this is a good movie, it’s interesting enough that I’m adding him to the list! |
