MOVIE #1,685 • 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 • 05.31.24 I’m a big-time Patriots/Tom Brady hater so this might not seem like something I was itching to watch. But I love a good deep-dive sports doc (the Jordan era docuseries The Last Dance, and O.J.: Made in America, for example, were both amazing). This one didn’t come close to the levels of either of those efforts, though. My issues with it were the same as everybody else’s: far FAR too much ass-kissing of owner Robert Kraft (and just way too much Kraft in general — who gives a shit about the damn owner of the team?) and it’s comically negative toward Belichik. Brady is as unlikeable as ever (partly because of how damn hard he tries to be likable, and partly because I think deep down he’s an evil presence in our world). Still, I can’t argue with the NFL Films production style of much of the football content. I wish they would have spent more time on my NY Giants kicking their ass in two Super Bowls, but beggars can’t be choosers. Its pros still outweigh its many flaws at the end of the day. |
