 | MOVIE #1,719 • 🍿🍿 • 06.11.24 I’ll be as brief as possible here: Initiation — sorry, Init!ation is a sub-Blumhouse core slasher that fails at pretty much every level (the look, the acting, the screenplay, etc.). Movies like this, that are so tied to a ‘capture the zeitgeist’ style (in this case: visualizing social media! it’s bad!), feel old the second they come out. Structurally, not only do they eliminate all the red herrings, but seemingly all possible characters. Meaning that the killer is either a totally insignificant player or someone we haven't met yet. Transgression or laziness: you make the call! I was simply too bored to care. (I won't ‘spoil’ it but it's very dumb, obviously). |
