MOVIE #1,738 • 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 • 06.19.24 phil solomon: director focus It’s kind of fitting that the next suggested video on YouTube after watching this 1988 short experimental film was “James Ferraro - Cruisin' The Nightbiker Strip 1977 [Full album],” bla bla bla something about how Ferraro in the 00s was doing to music what Solomon was doing in to film in the 80s bla bla bla. I really appreciate these movies but I find them difficult to write about. They’re kaleidoscopic abrastactions so maybe that’s the point, to a degree. It also doesn’t help that these are maxing out at 360p though I’m in a way that feels apt as well. |

The Secret Garden is one of Solomon’s best films. Like Thornton and Klahr, there is the shadow of a story here, which has to do with the passage from innocence and experience to terror and ecstasy.” – T. Gunning. It was released on June 16, 1988.
