 | MOVIE #1,913 • 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 • 08.20.24 This is a short feature documentary (just north of an hour) about the making of the movie Wendy by Benh Zeitlin, of Beasts of Southern Wild fame. It’s not your typical making-of doc and presented more in line with the Ross Brothers’ cinéma vérité leanings. The film begins and ends with a local DJ doing some of the most obnoxious fades/dropouts I've ever seen (although the finale of the movie does climax with the cast doing a triumphant singalong of “Bohemian Rhapsody” that he plays). Apparently this was supposed to be included as an extra on Wendy’s physical release but the studios couldn’t deal with its organic and artsy style? Still haven’t seen Wendy, not to be confused with David Lowery’s Peter Pan & Wendy. Disney should just keep releasing Peter Pan movies once every three years. Seems like an excellent strategy. |
