SERIES: JACK SHOLDER DIRECTOR FOCUS (FILL-IN)

The year was 1995 and it had been three years since the made-for-Showtime thriller Sketch Artist rocked the nation. The people needed more. Why I felt the need to even watch the original as some kind of addendum to my Jack Sholder DF is a mystery, folks. I'll just say that you wouldn't want to have my brain. Jeff Fahey reprises his role as the titular sketch artist and Courtney Cox joins the party as a blind eyewitness (lol); (moviejeff.com personal favorite) Jonathan Silverman rounds out the cast.

This is not a good movie but better than the first by a wide margin. The serial killer plot is so much more interesting. Yes, the blind eyewitness set-up is a gimmicky mess on paper but compared to whatever the hell was happening in Sketch Artist 1, this is a breath of fresh air.

They catch the guy at the end of act one and this turns into a courtroom procedural, unfortunately. I kept waiting for the Silverman twist, as his character seemed unnecessarily shady, but it never came: he’s just… there.

Still, much more watchable than the first film in the SKCU (Sketch Artist Cinematic Universe).
