To welcome back TWO FOR TUESDAY after a month break, we have a special FOUR FOR FUNSDAY edition 4-pack of films all titled "Wicked City." We start with the weirdest of the bunch, this VERY adult anime from 1987 (Note: I will also be reviewing the 1992 live-action Hong Kong remake).
This is my first real pervert anime! (Not to kink-shame anyone — I love y’all freaks!) I know they get way weirder but you gotta start somewhere. This doesn’t go full tentacle porn but there are some hints at it? I don't know what the hell I'm talking about and don't care enough to do any research but what's this all about…
This is seriously NSFW stuff but I gotta say I liked it much more than I thought I would. I just have love how committed it is to being as weird as fucking possible. I barely knew what the hell was going on but it was fun to vibe with. This genre will never be ‘for me’ but I appreciate it for what it is. Pro tip: don’t watch this at the public gym! Whoopsie.

Wicked City (Japanese: 妖獣都市, Hepburn: Yōjū Toshi, lit. 'Supernatural Beast City') is a 1987 Japanese adult animated dark fantasy action horror film produced by Video Art and Madhouse for Japan Home Video. Based on Black Guard, the first novel of the Wicked City series by Hideyuki Kikuchi, the film is the solo directorial debut of Yoshiaki Kawajiri, who also served as the character designer, storyboard artist, animation director, and a key animator. It was released on April 11, 1987.
