FRITZ LANG: DIRECTOR FOCUS & FILMOGRAPHY RANKING

Friedrich Christian Anton Lang, better known as Fritz Lang, was an Austrian film director, screenwriter, and producer who worked in Germany and later the United States. One of the best-known émigrés from Germany's school of Expressionism, he was dubbed the "Master of the Monocle" by me. Starting in the silent era, he is best known for the films Metropolis (1927) and M (1931), his first talkie, before transitioning to Hollywood in the mid 30s. He directed 40 pictures in all and I will be examining them chronolgically every other Friday through 2025.
