🎙️ EPISODE 588: 11.01.22
This is an extremely slow burn shot in just a couple of long takes. On a rainy day in Canada, two women cross paths. I find myself drawn to these simple almost lo-fi drama plays but this one didn't work for me 100%. It's an incredibly bleak story, playing out in real-time; it's a bummer on multiple fronts. It's about impossible situations with seemingly no options, both for the parties in the crisis and those who seek to help them. Ultimately, the woman in trouble refuses all help and returns to the path of destruction. But she thought about it. It's about that thinking, the two sides of that equation, all the guilt and shame intertwined. There's a bravery in simply and plainly announcing that we're all fucked. But that can also be boring and cheap.
