🎙️ EPISODE 606: 11.25.22
The day after Thanksgiving is Native American Heritage Day. They did this on purpose. And so I decided to watch a movie made by an indigenous director. So that's what I did by SOMEHOW landing on Blackhorse Lowe's 2016 film, Chasing the Light. We definitely don't need another black and white indie of this nature, but nevertheless… here we are. This is amateur as fuck, but therein lies most of its charm. A few technical elements don't work, but it mostly looks pretty good for what must have been a shoestring budget. The most glaring issues arrive in the quality of the performances by a fleet of non-actors: some are shockingly good but when they're bad, watch out. I'll always have a soft spot for these slow-moving, fly-on-the-wall DIYers though, so I mostly enjoyed it.
