🎙️ EPISODE 605: 11.24.22
There is a major dearth of Thanksgiving-centric feature films out there. Perhaps the nature of the holiday doesn't lend itself to movie-making, but it is easily the biggest shared cultural event that has the least representation in cinema. Hence, when you google "Thanksgiving movies" you don't have to click far to end up on the 2015 Lifetime Original, Jim Henson's Turkey Hollow, narrated by Ludacris. The puppet work is on point and — let's be honest — that's why we're here. But there's a nice little plot, albeit extremely basic. It ends up not having much to do with the actual holiday, honestly, aside from, you know, there are turkeys in Turkey Hollow. It ends up being a film about how small town sheriffs are super horny for Mary Steenburgen, and vegan propaganda railing against the dangers of factory farming. This life is a mystery, folks. That's why I watch movies.
