🎙️ EPISODE 685: 04.06.23 ραɾƚ σϝ ƚԋҽ DARREN ARONOFSKY ԃιɾҽƈƚσɾ ϝσƈυʂ ʂҽɾιҽʂ I thought this one was the strongest of the trio of early Aronofsky shorts I looked at. Sure, the story and its commentary on capitalism and media reek of the college-age mindset, but visually it has some cool stuff happening (see below). Shot on a micro-budget, it's all the more commendable. Featuring a very young Lucy Liu, character actor Damon Whitaker, a no-name, prototypical 90s slacker dude, and at least a half-dozen hard R-word drops, Protozoa (clocking in at 25 minutes) is the D.A. short I'd probably most recommend seeing.
