Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces

MOVIE #1,727 • 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 • 06.13.24
I feel conflicted about watching this apart from viewing it with Fire Walk with Me proper (which I haven’t seen in quite some time). I know there are fan edits out there which insert these 90 minutes back into the original feature. But for better or worse (and for the sake of time), I took this in as a standalone feature. It’s obviously very similar to More Things That Happened, the autonomous compilation of deleted scenes from INLAND EMPIRE, and the fact that Lynch himself was responsible for helming these edits into unique things makes it alright to digest them on their own. My only qualm is that the details of this era of the Twin Peaks saga just weren’t fresh in my mind.
You know what? It's just nice to spend some time with these characters, in this place. It's been awhile. At some point I think I'm going to do a full chronological rewatch/breakdown of the entire series for this website, including tracking down the fan edit of the combined features (although I'm not sure I have the stomach for much of the later season 2 episodes… we'll see). A couple of odds and ends observations…

• Forgot how much cocaine use was in this movie. They fiend over it as if it's heroin
• Leo is till the worst
• I thought this Bowie scene at the Philadelphia office was in the movie proper but maybe this is just an extended cut?
• “What is the world coming to when you kill a guy for baby laxative?”
• I've remarked on this before, but it's amazing how well things were set up for the 2017 revival (“is it future or is it past?”)
