MOVIE #1,865 • 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 • 07.31.24 phil solomon: director focus This one — co-directed by Solomon’s mentor, the legendary experimental filmmaker Stan Brakhage (who I will be doing a Director Focus on soon!) — is the longest and most abstract work yet (and to the second point: that’s saying something). Again, I find myself thinking more about how this was made as opposed to WHY or WHAT it’s about. The length here (33min.) is a challenge but I also don’t see it as something you necessarily have to sit down in a darkened room and watch in its entirety. You can play with the timeline on YouTube and seek for recognizable images within the abstraction or you can put it on in the background, perhaps on a loop, and do something else. But don’t take my word for it. |
