MOVIE #1,9189 • 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 • 08.22.24 Jane Schoenbrun’s earliest work is often credited to their birth name “Dan,” as they were made pre-transition (they’re also sometimes attributed to a pseudonym, The Eyeslicer, which doubled as the moniker for a filmmaking collective — there’s a lot to parse here and elsewhere, maybe one day…) This 6-minute pseudo-documentary is made up entirely of high school morning announcement broadcasts from the 1990s. This fascination with media from that era (and media/entertainment’s role in the formative years, in general) is something that will continue in Schoenbrun’s work right up through the present. This is EiT-type content but it’s still really good. You can watch it here. |
