SERIES: ROSS BROS DIRECTOR FOCUS
Fascinating hybrid doc about making art, COVID, the present moment, and more. Told through the lens of the past with archival/found footage and audio clips (of all sorts of mediums, from newsreels to classic movies, etc.), a style similar to that found in the Vimeo shorts, Pinkie Red and Up All Night. I love this stream-of-consciousness vibe completely. The Ross bros also put themselves in front of the camera as they hone the idea and start working on their sixth feature (that would be the fictional Gasoline Rainbow).
This 100% enhances that movie for me. Viewing it as a letter to their 17yo selfs puts it in a different light. I still think it's their least successful effort but I appreciate it more now.
