🎙️ EPISODE 300: 01.24.2021 *Review starts @ ~ 59:55 I think most people are going to see this and right off the bat they’re gonna want to hate it, hate these characters at least. It will come swiftly and naturally to the average man. I felt that way for a second, too. It’s normal! Noah Baumbach’s Kicking and Screaming is sorta similar in this regard, albeit much more in-your-face about it, and also: Eric Stoltzy. But similar in that oh here’s some confused young people whining about shit, getting kind of drunk sometimes and generally being stupid. On the surface, their stories are always loathsome and unworthy. “Hi, we’re white and we talk about stuff.” The End. This is brutal realism because these characters are so phony. They don’t deserve to have their stories told and that’s kind of the point.
