🎙️ EPISODE 300: 01.24.2021 *Review starts @ ~ 2:01:20

This will be a short review. As far as documentary subjects go, the story of a poor black kid from Baltimore getting into puppets and eventually rising to the very pinnacle of the profession as the voice and puppeteer of arguably the most famous fictional character made out of felt of all-time seems like as close to a 'can't-miss' as a filmmaker is ever gonna come across.

UPDATE (2/16/13-present day): Listen I'm not changing my score but I thought I should do something of a postscript here given the recent scandal with the subject of this film, Kevin Clash. I’m sure this film comes across differently in retrospect, and for whatever it’s worth, Clash has seemingly become somewhat uncanceled of late, working on both The Happytime Murders movie and the reboot of The Dark Crystal…c'est la effing vie.

*** part of THE BIG EPISODE 300 EXTRAVAGANZA wherein I reviewed 36 movies, mostly live reads of critiques I wrote between 2009-2012. The finished product above is a highly edited version of the truly embarrassing one that was read during the five-hour podcast recording. I guess this is growing up. ***
